What are some realistic war and or Marine movies from the Iraq or afghanistan war?

Hey I wanted to know what some realistic war war movies where that showed what war is like mostly the wars in Iraq or afghanistan. Please don't say the Hurt Locker because i saw it. Thank you.|||I still think the closest movie you will find is "Full Metal Jacket" is the best one for boot camp. As far as actual war movies go, it is hard because everyone has different experiences. All the war movies out there have a relatively happy ending and that is not the case. Ever when you win over there most of the time you lose more. I would say a good movie even though it didn't do very well was "Jar Head". I say this because it shows you how you can train to do something for years and years and never really get the chance to use you skills. The sad truth is that probably only 1 in every 100 Marines will see actual combat. Once you actually see combat you realize that you are not training to go to combat, you are training so you can simply come home from it alive. When that first round flies you can though every movie you have ever seen out the door because they don't mean ****. The best way to describe being in combat is to think of the worst thing you have ever done in your life that you got caught doing, now take that feeling you had the moment you knew you were caught and take that times 100 and that is kind what it feels like. My husband was a Marine over there at the exact same time and very close to the unit followed in this series and while we were watching it he kept pointing out, "Man, see those LAVs in the distance? That was us," or "They are talking about our company," etc.





There is a LITTLE more officer bashing than what is really real and the officer incidences are a little overdone from time to time but other than that, from a Marines perspective who was over there at the exact same time and right along side those guys it is as accurate as you are going to get for Hollywood.





My husband loved the series so much he bought it and every now and then he'll put it in to reminisce about the old days.





PS.. Hurt Locker was the most UNrealistic military movie.. my brother is EOD and that guy would have been bounced out so fast for putting his team in jeopardy he wouldn't know what happened. EOD has no room or tolerance for self-important wackos.|||'Blackhawk Down'. True tale that happened in Somalia.
