What is the importance of women during the civil war, like what would happen if they werent there? Also, wat affect/effect did they have on the war, or the outcome of the war?|||If women weren't involved with the civil war, the outcome would have likely been the same. It's not that women did amazing things during the war because of the fact that they were women, but some people who had significant roles in the war were women.
Molly Pitcher was from the Revolutionary War, not Civil War, btw.

How would the Korean War have been different without the battle at Inchon Landing?
I have the majority of an essay about this finished. I just need a little more detail. So, how would the Korean War have been different without the battle at Inchon Landing?|||It would have lasted much longer. By landing well in the rear of the communist forces MacArthur cut them off from their supply lines and forced them into a panicked retreat. Many were not able to retreat and surrendered.
If you've been studying things then you know at the time of the Inchon landing the communist forces had the US and South Korean forces bottled up in the "Pusan Perimeter." MacArthur could have simple reinforced the perimeter and forced a frontal engagement but that would have meant lengthy brutal combat.|||made the n koreans yell "I give",and ask for a truce

How much longer will the American people allow the war in Iraq to go on?
The claim that the Iraq war has anything to do with terrorist attacks is wearing thin, as we see what happened in Iraq yesterday.(220 Iraqi people killed)
Saddam was a strong opponent of Muslim religious fanaticism, and a barrier to Osama. Now Saddam is history. The latest reason claimed to justify the Bush war is that we have an obligation to set up a democratic state in Iraq. How much longer will the American people buy this? Will Bush need to invent a new justification to keep his war going until he leaves office? The American troops are dying for nothing. How much longer will the American people put up with our men/women dying?|||how can a military vet be so stupid about war? it is a fact of life we aren't always going to be at peace and you and all the other people who are against this war and saying it's bush's war can shove it. you are as bad as the terrorists talking negativly like that about our goverment. you should be ashamed. if all of the men and women who are fighting and dying for our country over there heard what you say everyday about this war they would be deeply hurt and honestly i am as well as a patriotic person. no matter who is president we should back them up like them or not they are the leader of our country by turning your back on him you are doing the same to our country. no wonder why other countries hate the us because our own citizens can't be content with that great thing we have in our country called FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!! that didn't just come for free alot of men and women have died for that.|||Many civilians believe that with our military as strong as it is today that we should just be able to go in, fire off a couple rounds, and war over. |||Morons?!?!? What a bunch of hypocrites!!! Terrorism is still all over Iraq. We are trying to stop a religious war going on over there. You arrogant pinkos think you know stuff that you actually don't!!!! You would never know what is going on over there unless YOU were actually there. You do realize that being in the military does involve not caring about dying and sacrificing your life for your fellow soldiers. Why do you think that people join the military? They join to fight and to "destroy the enemies of the United States" which are the terrorists. Did you ever think of that? I haven't been to Iraq but my little cousin is there right now and they are using chemicals that can be closely related to WMDs. My cousin and his squad found about 50 chlorine tanks buried underground for use on our soldiers and other Iraqis and he would probably be dead right now if he didn't have a gas mask which are hard to come by b/c the demoncrats are cutting war funds. My question to you would be: how many Americans die each and every day on our highways, die due to medical neglect or mistake? About 50,000 die every year on the highways; MILLIONS die due to medical mistakes/neglect.
At the height of the Vietnam War, a soldier was safer in the jungles than on the highway.
Let's not forget how many Americans are killed on the streets and in their own homes by murderers, rapists, robbers. I have never been in Harlem or Watts, by I understand that is the way of life there.

The war against terrorism will go on for a long time - 10, 20 years at least. It won't end until the countries that sponsor it get brought forward out of third world status. Their lives have to be better for them in a peaceful environment, than it is in a wartime one. That means education, commerce, and a strong economy (or at least a stronger one than they have now).
That may happen under their current system of government if we leave them alone. The only problem is that it's never happened before in a totalitarian regime. Despots tend to improve their lives, and line their friends pockets, at the expense of the populace.

Thanks|||To be it simply (thesis statement hint hint), the Cold War negatively effected Third World countries because of war by proxy (i.e. Afghanistan, Egypt/Israel, Iran/Iraq and Vietnam), a "us or them" mentality in regards to aid, and a large number of cheap munitions sold to developing nations (Africa)|||Read stuff by Talcott Parsons

What is a realistic scenario for World War III in the next 50 years?
I planning on writing a story about a World War III type of apocalypse in which the U.S is invaded and several major countries are in complete destruction due to the war which has been raging for decades. I want to refrain from using the traditional "Nuclear Apocalypse" scenario and have been attempting to find out how something like this would realistically happen. I'm thinking something to do with the middle east, however how likely is this and how would this come about?|||Unfortunately, barring the destruction of all nuclear weapons at some point in the near future, the next world war will almost certainly feature the total or partial destruction of several cities by nuclear weapons. If WWIII were to break out tomorrow, though, it would be between either India and Pakistan or North Korea and China. Various allies of the two countries would be drawn in, and boom! World War. The United States is unlikely to have a land invasion, as we are completely surrounded by allies (barring Cuba, which we watch to this day), water, and complex radar systems. Anyone who tried to actually invade the United States with a traditional army would be blown out of the water by our air force/navy/subs. However, you could write about a massive Muslim uprising in the nation. This is possible (if not probable), and would have the effect of starting a war, especially if coordinated with uprisings in other countries. Not that I particularly dislike Muslims, but theirs is the religion causing the most problems in the world right now, and as such the one most likely to do this.|||When studying the rise and fall of civilizations most have been conquered from within. The justice system fails, special interests prevail, and most importantly the people get lazy and complacent. So, World War III, the answer is simple. We have been the most war crazy country in the history of the world, full stop. There are many sons and daughters and their sons and daughters who have been impacted by the wars waged in their country. It is very clear that the only option for World War III will be from the Middle East. As the world dependence on petroleum based products diminishes through alternative energy sources, the Middle Eastern Countries will have reduced money coming into them. Their population will suffer, and new leaders will rise. These new leaders will have been victims of wars waged in their country. They and their young population will be bitter and religious. They will stop at nothing to get even. It is too visible for any type of Nuclear War to happen. So what will be the vehicle of World War III ? Biological ! Simply putting some kind of chemicals in the water system will totally eliminate the ability to grow food, no food will result in social unrest and the breakdown of the social and political systems.|||im thinking that maybe Canada and Mexico fall under communism, and they both decided to invade the United States at once, and with the war raging in the Middle East, the US is vulnerable to attacks, because all of our military is over seas, a hurricane hit and theirs wild fires in california, so the national guard is not avalible to stop the attack, so the united states fall to the Mexican-Canadian forces....hows that?|||Since the economy is so bad in the u.s. right now and the u.s. is going down the toilet, they are losing global power. china will be the country to get that global power, and if history has taught us anything it is that the shifting of global power has always resulted in war, except once. this will most likely come true in the next few years, you can put a war between china and the u.s. and then other country's can start getting into it.|||bio weapon...like a flu outbreak perhaps?????

What parts of reconstruction after the civil war lead to the most drastic changes in American life?
I need to know what ideas or events besides the civil war changed American society the most between 1865-1888. The question is... "How is war the midwife of Revolution.|||Reconstruction was not like the name implies. It was an occupation only. The Union soldiers were suppose to be a police force but they did a bad job. This situation caused the development of the KKK which sparked racial tension and the long road toward civil rights in the 50's and 60's. Read, "Gone with the Wind" it does a pretty good job of telling what basically happened after the civli war. Also, the government didn't do anything to set blacks toward a better future. They sould have set up an education system like they did for the American Indian but they didn't. The government punished the south by having higher transportation taxes on goods going south than goods going north causing higher prices on items for sale in the south. This caused higher poverty levels in the south which continue till today.|||the invention of the telegraph
