What is the importance of women during the civil war?

What is the importance of women during the civil war, like what would happen if they werent there? Also, wat affect/effect did they have on the war, or the outcome of the war?|||If women weren't involved with the civil war, the outcome would have likely been the same. It's not that women did amazing things during the war because of the fact that they were women, but some people who had significant roles in the war were women.

Molly Pitcher was from the Revolutionary War, not Civil War, btw.

Check this link for more info: http://americancivilwar.com/women/women.鈥?/a>|||Women were very important during the civil war. Without women many men wouldn't have survived the war. Another name to look up is Clara Barton. She was a nurse during the Civil War and she started the very first Red Cross.|||They served as nurses and cooks.
