Can you tell me what similarities and differences between the two wars? (Revolutionary War and the War of 1812?)|||Hello,
The Revolutionary War was fought over taxation without representation (though the taxes themselves were needed to pay for the French Indian wars that had threatened the 13 colonies for years and vastly drained the British treasury) as well as Independence for the colonies. The War of 1812 was fought because Britain was fighting Napoleon and the Americans were trading with that enemy; hence British stopped American ships and pressed the sailors from those ships on to British ships. The Revolutionary war was won by the US but the 1812 was a draw as borders and territories remained the same. The US failed on her invasion of Canada.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly|||The revolution was fought because of the lack of representation in Parliament and the failure of the British empire to treat it's colonists as equal Citizens . The was of 1812 was fought because The British Empire was stopping American ships and forcing crewmen from those ships to serve on British ships . Basically enslaving American citizens on British ships. While America did not win many battles during the war Britain did stop taking Americans and forcing them to serve on there ships . And for the second time Britain recognized The United States as an independent country .|||Revolutionary war the U.S fought for independence, which they won. War of 1812 was the American descision to invade and attempt to annex Canada, which they lost.
