My grandad fought in the first world war ,my mum knows he fought in the battle of the Somme and that he was wounded and sent back to the uk,however he never discussed the war with my mum , she only found out about him being wounded through my grandmother.
Does anybody know the best way of finding his war service records.|||Try looking at the first link for information on how to search. If you know his regiment/battalion then you might be able to contact their museum for more information. another interesting thing to do is to look at the Battalion Diaries. I am lucky enough to live in London, so I managed to read and take notes on my late Great Uncle's movements in WW1 until his death in 1915. The National Archives at Kew have some information.
The third link is for medal rolls. Good luck in your search. Hope it is fascinating.|||try these sites out...
