What happen in the Vietniem war? I would like to know the difference between the Vietniem war and the korean war?

Who was the war involved with in the Vietniem war also with the Korean War? I am just inquiring about this for my own knowledge? Also as of now what were the contribuiting factors of these two different wars ?

Any other thing you add would be great thanks.

If you have links that would be great just your opinion.|||During the fifties and sixties, there was a dominant belief that if one country fell under Communist rule, then the countries around it would become Communist Sattelite states. This theory was called the "domino effect." In essence both conflicts were fought by the United States (the Korean war also involved the U.N. and South Korea in the Korean War) to stem the efforts of Communist countries from spreading the Communist form of government to their neighbors in the South. The Korean War began in 1950 and ended in 1952 and involved the North Koreans and Chinese against the U.S., U.N. and South Korea. The conflict ultimately ended in a truce. Vietnam began after the French colonialists who where in charge of Vietnam were defeated by the Communist North Vietnamese. The North Vietnamese under the rule of Communist ruler Ho Chi Minh, invaded South Vietnam in an effort to impose Communism in that country. The Vietnam War ended in America's first and only defeat in a war. The difference between Korea and Vietnam was that Vietnam was fought using unconvential guerilla tactics while the Korean War was fought more conventionally.|||Though the stated effort against the expansion of Communism was the same in each case, the wars in other ways were completely different...world's apart.

Korea was fought much like WWII, which it followed closely in time, in fact I think it could almost be called a "WWII surplus war". It was a politically motivated war. It ended in stalemate, neither side could take much more of it. A peace treaty was signed.

Vietnam was different. The U.S. leadership could hardly have had the same mindset as in Korea, and certainly the American people didn't. France and Australia convinced us to make the effort in Vietnam...it was never in America's interest. We used helicopter gunships, carpet bombing, chemical warfare, even illegal attacks against non-belligerant neighbor countries, and sent troops that in general had no interest in fighting. The strategy and tactics were self-defeating. The Vietnamese were fighting for their land in an historical battle with foreign invaders (Chinese, French, American). We were roundly defeated (though the Vietnamese sacrifice was also historic) and got out any way we could. We ran away.|||the vietnam war- purpose was to free north vietnamise from communistic rule from south vietnam.(invasion).

korean war- north korea invaded south korea to spread communism. the u.s. went into contain communism.

not to much of a difference.|||The Vietnam war was to stop the spread of Communism into Southeast Asia. It was fought between the North Vietnamese, the US, Australia, and a few other countries from the Pacific.

The Korean war, was a UN war against the North Koreans, who invaded the south.
