War???????

how are the vietnam war and this iraqui war similar? how are they different?

thx:)|||the only difference the the physical location. they are the same on the basis of being waged illeagally, the same people are ofiting from them, thousands of young innocent people are dying, and the agendas had/have nothing to do with the american people.|||only anti-war people ask questions like that cause they know the outcome of the vietnam war

But we will WIN in Iraq|||Both wars are civil wars,

Both wars have surrounding countries aided each side of the civil war

Both wars have large numbers of out of uniform fighters, making any civilian casualty easily converted to to a military kill

Both wars were fueled by the private sector-military industrial complex...making profits from war

Both wars at the time they became extremely unpopular at home, saw a republican president ignore the will of the people and ESCALATE it

A better question is what the republicans learned from vietnam to avoid in Iraq, like keeping the war off the tv, use of fake military commentators to sway opinion of the war. etc|||Actually, I see very few similarities in the war itself - the similarities are are on the home front where the enemy gets support from the anti-war zealots and left over hippies.

There are numerous differences - for instance, the Viet Cong did not threaten world domination or ever attack the US on its own soil - they did not indiscriminately slaughter thousands of innocent victims or terrorize and murder innocent people simply to try and further their objectives.|||Wow Dave, LBJ was a republican? I need to update my history books

Similarities; not letting military officials do their jobs, people ignoring facts and embracing only the drabs of information that support their position.

Differences; VC's were not terrorists killing whomever, where ever to force their agenda down the world's throat.|||The main similarities are that we are fighting for Democracy and both wars are unpopular on the home front. The main difference is that we were fighting against Communism in Vietnam, which was easy because Communist were unified people in government. In the war in the Middle-East, we are fighting against radical terrorist groups, which are split into seperate groups of (primarily) hidden revolutionaries.
