How to explain that the Cold War is rather geographical than ideological?

It is true that Cold War is about ideologies,,but geography also played an important role. Can anybody describe the importance of geography in the Cold War?|||geographically speaking all enemy territory for both sides was within range of the new ICBM's which could launch over 3000miles and hit. the reality of nuclear war due to the mass number of nukes and range of these missles made the "war" geographically important. but it was mostly ideological and economical.
