How did the Trojan War start? Also which character ended up having a religion based on her?

So many people know about the Trojan War, some know about Paris's situation, but how did it get to that point?|||It all started at a wedding that one obnoxious person was not invited to. Read here

I'm not sure who you mean about a religion. All of the Greek gods and goddess had followers.|||The Trojan War, if you believe the stories, was started when Paris, of Troy, visited Sparta and fell in love with the king's wife, Helen. She left Sparta with him and went back to Troy - and in his jealous rage, the king of Sparta followed them - with an army - back to Troy's gates and lay seige.

As for a religion being based on one of the characters - you may be referring to Helenism? Though I don't believe that the reference is actually one to Helen of Troy.|||it actually started when Eris the goddess of discord pit Athena Aphrodite and Hera against one another for the golden apple which said 'to the fairest of them all' Paris at the time of his birth was taken to the oracle and the oracle told them to kill the child because he will cause the fall of many nations but his mum saves him, he becomes a Shepard boy and the three goddesses decide he should choose who is the fairest of them all, they each offer him something but it was Aphrodite who told him he may have the most beautiful woman on earth: Helen the face that launched a thousand ships and all that.|||Myths are often very complicated, the myth of the Trojan War is no exception. The way the story goes is:

Zeus and Poseiden wanted to get down and dirty with Thetis, a sea-goddess, but both were warned by Prometheus, the guy that was chained to a rock for giving fire to man, that any son of Thetis would eclipse his father in power. So, being the self-preserving pricks they were, the two Gods decided to marry Thetis off to Peleus, a mortal.

The wedding would've gone off great it they hadn't forgotten a goddess. This off course pissed said forgotten one, Eris (also known as Discord). So, being the vengeful one and knowing full well that the three well-known goddess were competative bitches, Eris threw a golden apple in the middle of the wedding with "To The Fairest" written on it. Then the squabbling between Aphrodite, Athena and Hera began.

Zeus being mighty in all his wisdom, yeah right, decided to call on a mortal to judge. Personally I think he was just saving his own ***. They chose Paris, the little prince turned shepherd-boy out of survival.

He eventually chose Aphrodite, not because she was so hot, but because she tempted him with the best bribe; the most beautiful woman in the known-world, Helen of Sparta. Paris carted her off, her suitors got pissed and VOILA! The Trojan War.

Edit: and to answer the second question. Achilles, the infamous handsome other prick, had a religion started about him. Though it was more like a cult, which I guess is like a religion.
